Meet the Department Heads


Administrator – Garrett Bothun

Garrett has been with Haven Homes since 2015 serving as the Administrator.  Prior to joining the Haven Homes team, Garrett worked in St. Paul as the Administrator of an assisted living facility.  Garrett has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Healthcare Administration from Concordia College – Moorhead and he is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration at St. Thomas Opus College of Business.  Garrett is passionate about working with the elderly and is proud to be part of the Haven Homes team.  Outside of work, Garrett enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his wife Michelle and his dog Gus. Director of Nursing – Heidi LaFave

Heidi’s life motto is “If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you to your purpose”-TD Jakes.  Heidi began her career with Elim starting at the age of 15 as a nursing assistant.  She is a Registered Nurse and received her Associates Degree at Ridgewater college.  She has been with Haven Homes for 2 years and our Director of Nursing since July 2016.  Heidi can be contacted by emailed at [email protected].


Social Services – Katelyn O’Brien

Katelyn has been with Haven Homes since 2016 as the Director of Social Services.  Katelyn has a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a Minor in Disability Services and a Specialization in Gerontology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Nurse Manager – Melissa Ellis

Melissa began working at Haven Homes in June 2016. She has received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Hamlin University as well as her RN Associates degree from Rasmussen College. When Melissa was asked why she loves working at Haven Homes she said, “ I love working here because of the small community feel and ability to know all of the residents, families and co-workers I get to interact with on a daily basis.” Melissa can be contact by email at [email protected] .


Nurse Manager – Charity Marketon

Charity started at Haven Homes as a nursing assistant in 2007 to 2010. During this time Charity was in school at Hennepin Technical College and graduated with her LPN in 2010. Charity then continued on with her education and graduated from Rasmussen College with her RN in September 2015 when she came back to Haven Homes to work. Charity also received her Wound Care Clinician Certification in May 2016. Charity says “I love coming to work here because of the challenge that every day brings, the sense of humor you need to do your job, the love that is spread throughout the nursing home between residents and care givers and love feeling like I am making a difference in people’s lives.” Charity can be contact by email at [email protected] .


Nurse Manager/MDS Coordinator – Harmony Lipelt

Harmony began her career with Elim starting at the age of 18 as a nursing assistant, then worked as an LPN for 8 years.  She is now a Registered Nurse and received her Associates Degree at Ridgewater College.  She started working at Haven Homes in April 2017. Harmony is excited to join Haven Homes and to be part of such a wonderful and resident centered team. Chaplain – James Vogt

Jim has been with Elim Care, Inc. just over 8 years working in a few different facilities around the metro – currently Haven Homes/Bryant House in Maple Plain as well as Cornerstone Assisted Living in Plymouth. He is a graduate of Oak Hills Bible College in Bemidji, MN.  Jim has spent 11 years as an EFCA pastor in the area of Detroit Lakes, MN and in Houston, MN and Jim is ordained in the Evangelical Free Church of America. Jim was a staff chaplain for 19 years at a level one trauma center (Hennepin County Medical Center). At HCMC Jim went through two years of residency training for professional chaplaincy with second year specializing in support and ministry to patients, families and staff in the midst of crisis and traumatic situations. The reason Jim loves to come to work is, “How can one not want to come to work when surrounded by such wonderful residents, families and dedicated staffs who also become your friends.”  Chaplain Jim can contact by email at [email protected] .


Business Manager – Emily Mittelsteadt

Emily has been with Elim Care since March 2010 starting as a dietary aide then working various positions until becoming the Business Manager at Haven Homes in 2015. Activities Director – Nadia Smith

Nadia Smith has been working as the activities director at Haven Homes since October 2015.  She has been working in activities for nearly 5 years, and was the activities director at a senior community in Minnetonka prior to Haven Homes.  Nadia graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration.  While at school, she quickly found her calling and passion to work directly with seniors.  Nadia’s favorite part of her job is to bring joy and make a difference in residents’ lives, and to give them a sense of purpose.  Nadia can be reach by email at [email protected] .


Housekeeping Supervisor – Natalie Terwey

Natalie Terwey has been the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor at Haven Homes for a year and a half. Natalie loves coming to work every day because she loves to make a difference in the residents’ lives any way she can, whether it’s providing them with a clean room or just bringing a smile to their faces.
